Kristy is a Licensed Independent Mental Health Practitioner and Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor with over 20 years of experience working with individuals from all walks of life. She is dedicated to working collaboratively with individuals and/or families to promote optimum well-being in life management.
Kristy creates a therapeutic environment for her clients to feel supported, understood and guided in the therapy process. She understands and honors the value of every personal journey and treats each client with the utmost care and respect.
Kristy possesses extensive knowledge and experience in addressing issues such as trauma, suicidal ideation, self-harm, depression, anxiety, stress management, ADHD, oppositional defiant disorder, family concerns, grief, attachment disorders, Reactive Attachment Disorder (RAD), parenting, and substance use. She teaches coping techniques and skills to meet psychological needs effectively.
Kristy has a special interest in helping children and adolescents who face challenges with emotional regulation, behavioral concerns, and trauma. She aids them in recognizing and appropriately expressing their feelings, and in mastering control over negative thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Her methods also include teaching social skills and building self-confidence by helping children gain new perspectives on emotion management. Kristy provides parenting strategies that contribute to restoring balance within the home.
Her specialized trauma training for children includes Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP) for children aged 0-5 years, and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Training (TF-CBT) for ages 3-18. These approaches facilitate the healing and growth of children by helping them move beyond traumatic experiences, while also leveraging familial strengths and relationships to foster recovery.
